Welcome to our Reception Class Page. This is home to all of the amazing learning that takes place in our Skylarks Class.

Our Reception team is made up of Miss Morgan, Miss Beardshaw and Miss Carpenter.

In our Reception Class, we aim to deliver an aspirational, exciting and engaging curriculum that provides individual and appropriate challenge. This is through a variety of skilfully planned structured and play based activities, alongside rich learning opportunities.

In Term One, we held 'Parent Curriculum Meetings' which were an opportunity for all parents to come into school so see what their children will be learning across the academic year. Please find a copy of the presentations below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher.

Term 2

Aspiring young artists.....

As part of our EYFS art curriculum, we have been studying the artist, Henri Matisse. We have explored different pieces of Matisse's artwork, talked about what we like about it and the colours and shapes that we can see. We have created our own pieces of art in the style of Matisse using a variety colours and shapes to create different effects. As well as developing our art skills, we focused carefully on our cutting skills to create our final pieces.

Well done, reception! Your focus and engagement during your art sessions was fantastic.

Term 1

In reception, our focus text has been Owl Babies. We have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the story and it has sparked lots of interest and imagination. In our curiosity cube, we have some tiny eggs in a nest. We have been using the stem sentences "I think it might be..." and "I think..." to predict where the eggs have come from and what might be inside.

As part of our art learning, we have been focusing on the skill of creating different thicknesses of lines by using different paintbrushes. The children's focus and perseverance in art has been brilliant. They used fine paint brushes to add lots of details to their owls.

Our Woodland Adventure at Dauntsey School - 20.9.2024

On Friday 20th September, we went on our first school trip. We spent lots of time in the woods, exploring our surroundings, making dens and exploring a range of animal habitats. We finished off our visit with hit chocolate around the campfire which was great fun.

The children in Skylarks have had a brilliant start to their reception year. They have been incredibly busy exploring their new learning spaces and focusing well on their learning.

Well done, Skylarks!

Come and have a look inside our wonderful learning spaces.
