Friends of Southbroom Infants', or FOSI, is the parent staff association (PSA) for our school. It is made up of parent/carer volunteers and staff members. The committee works to arrange fun events for the children and their families to enjoy while also raising valuable funds which are spent directly on improving the school, buying additional resources, equipment, and added extras that enhance school life and make it an even better place to learn.
Every year, FOSI pays for the coaches to take the whole school to the pantomime, which is a fabulous way to end the autumn term. As well as this, FOSI organises events such as quiz nights, Easter bingo, discos, film nights and summer and Christmas fairs.
The committee has three named members who take on specific roles, but the supporting members really are what makes FOSI the success that it is. The team behind all events really enable FOSI to turn ideas into reality. Any parent, grandparent, or carer is welcome to join the FOSI committee. FOSI meets in the evening once in every six weeks. It's not essential that you attend meetings (notes are always emailed out to members), but it is beneficial.
Most events are held after school, and there is always an opportunity to help and support in a range of ways, whatever your availability, meaning the committee works around you and there is no expectation to help.
FOSI is a registered charity (charity no. 1168179), and once a year we hold an AGM where the named committee members are nominated and voted for. If you would like to become a supporting member or put yourself forward for a named role, please get in touch by emailing [email protected].
